The Hawk first flew in 1974 and became an important British advanced jet trainer, entering RAF service as the Hawk T1. It has been used to prepare generations of fast-jet aircrew and has also been developed in a number of export and combat-capable variants.
The aircraft is particularly familiar through its long association with the RAF Red Arrows, whose display Hawks have become a distinctive part of British aviation.
