The Phantom FG.1 was the British naval version of the F-4 Phantom II, adapted for operation by the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm. Powered by Rolls-Royce Spey engines, it incorporated changes for British carrier operations, including an extendable nose undercarriage that increased the aircraft’s launch attitude during catapult take-off.
