A Winter Welcome: The Mosquito B.Mk25 Over Downham Market
This beautiful limited edition print by Michael Rondot captures a De Havilland Mosquito B.Mk25 returning to RAF Downham Market in November 1944. The scene depicts aircraft KB604 from No.608 Squadron after a successful bombing mission to Berlin. Specifically, this airframe was a favorite of Flt Lt Colin Bell and his navigator Flt Lt Douglas Redmond. This limited edition print serves as a tribute to the “Wooden Wonder” and the Light Night Striking Force of RAF Bomber Command. You can find this piece and others in Heritage Collection of Limited Edition Prints.
The Pathfinder Force: Precision at High Speed
Originally conceived as an unarmed fast bomber, the Mosquito evolved into a multirole legend. Indeed, its high-altitude performance and high speed allowed it to finish the war with the lowest loss rate in Bomber Command. This limited edition print highlights the aircraft’s role as a pathfinder, marking targets for the main bomber stream. Consequently, the Mosquito could evade German night fighters and anti-aircraft defenses with ease. Furthermore, the aircraft proved its versatility in maritime strike and photo-reconnaissance roles throughout the European theater.
Every limited edition print carries the authentic signatures of three veteran centenarian Mosquito pilots. Notably, the signatories include Flt Lt Colin Bell DFC and Flt Lt George Dunn DFC, both of No.608 Squadron, alongside night fighter pilot Flt Lt Harry Reed DFC. A select few artist’s proofs and remarques also feature signatures from Flt Lt John Trotman DFC & Bar and Flt Lt Des Curtis DFC. Moreover, the remarque editions include a detailed original pencil drawing of a Mosquito with a squadron badge added to the border.
