JET Art Gallery’s Heritage Collection brings together aviation art featuring some of the best-known military aircraft of the Second World War and the years around it. Subjects include the Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane, Avro Lancaster, de Havilland Mosquito, Short Sunderland, P-51 Mustang, Hawker Sea Fury, Messerschmitt Bf 109 and Me 262.
The collection reflects a period of rapid aviation development, from Merlin-powered fighters and heavy bombers to the emergence of jet propulsion. Aircraft such as the Gloster Meteor and Messerschmitt Me 262 illustrate the technological transition that would shape military aviation in the post-war era.
