Vampire Sunset – The Story Behind the Print
Vampire Sunset captures de Havilland Vampire FB9s pulling up into a formation loop above their Lincolnshire base as the light fades.
The Vampire became an important early RAF jet fighter and later remained in service as a trainer. Its distinctive twin-boom layout makes it one of the most recognisable aircraft of the early jet era.
Michael Rondot’s painting concentrates on the aircraft in formation, using the sunset setting to emphasise the clean lines of the FB9.
The edition is limited to 50 individually produced fine-art giclée copies and is signed by Michael Rondot.
