The English Electric Lightning was a British supersonic interceptor developed for the Royal Air Force and designed to respond rapidly to high-altitude threats during the Cold War. Its distinctive vertically staggered Rolls-Royce Avon engines, swept wings and exceptional rate of climb made it one of the most recognisable RAF fighters of its era.
Lightning squadrons provided frontline air defence for many years, with the aircraft remaining in RAF service until 1988. JET Art Gallery’s Lightning collection features limited edition aviation prints depicting the aircraft in RAF service, with selected editions signed by Lightning pilots and aircrew. Individual product pages provide full edition and signature details.
