Description
Tornado Down – A Gulf War Memoir
Tornado Down is John Peters and John Nichol’s account of being shot down and captured during the 1991 Gulf War.
Peters, the pilot, and Nichol, the navigator, ejected after their Tornado was hit during a bombing mission over Iraq. Their capture was followed by seven weeks as prisoners of war, including interrogation, physical and psychological abuse and appearances on Iraqi television.
The narrative alternates their experiences with the perspective of Peters’ wife, Helen, showing how events affected those waiting at home as well as the aircrew themselves.
The 291-page paperback presents a direct account of combat, captivity, survival and the personal consequences of war.
