A tribute to RAF fighter ace Bob Stanford-Tuck, whose combat career included Spitfires with No. 92 Squadron and command of No. 257 Squadron during the Battle of Britain.
Bob Stanford-Tuck entered combat with No. 92 Squadron during the fighting over Dunkirk. On his first day of combat he was credited with a Bf 109 and two Bf 110s.
During the Battle of Britain he took command of No. 257 Squadron, flying Hurricanes, before later returning to the Spitfire and leading fighter wings at Duxford and Biggin Hill.
The original product record gives his wartime tally as 29 victories. In January 1942 he was shot down by ground fire at low level over northern France, survived and became a prisoner of war.
