A tribute to Spitfire ace Don Kingaby, who joined No. 92 Squadron during the Battle of Britain and later became a fighter leader.
Don Kingaby joined No. 92 Squadron in 1940 and was quickly drawn into the intense fighting of the Battle of Britain.
On 12 October he recorded his first Messerschmitt victory over Kent, and on 15 November 1940 the original product record credits him with destroying four Bf 109s in a single day.
Kingaby later took part in offensive fighter sweeps over northern France and, after receiving his commission, was given command responsibilities with the Hornchurch Wing. His later wartime duties included daylight bomber escort missions and low-level cover during the D-Day landings.
The original product record gives his final score as 23 enemy aircraft and identifies him as the first and only RAF ace to receive three Distinguished Flying Medals.
