Description

Gazelle Helicopter – The Story Behind the Print

Michael Rondot’s detailed painting places a British Army Gazelle above Warminster Ranges on Salisbury Plain during a live firepower demonstration.

Acting as airborne forward air controller, the Gazelle pilot guides rocket-firing RAF Harriers in close air support while a Challenger II tank moves into firing position below. The rolling Wiltshire landscape provides a recognisable backdrop to the scene.

The edition is limited to 250 signed and numbered prints, with 50 artist’s proofs and remarques and 10 canvas prints.

Three British Army generals who wear the Army Flying Badge are signatories to the edition. Artist’s proofs and remarque editions add the signatures of Gazelle pilots Major Alex Rogers and Warrant Officer I David Whiteley, as detailed above.
