Atlantic Trail – The Story Behind the Print

Atlantic Trail captures the precision required during air-to-air refuelling as a 617 Squadron Tornado closes on the basket trailed by a Vickers VC10 tanker.

The painting focuses on the final moments before contact, when the Tornado pilot must place the refuelling probe cleanly into the basket while both aircraft continue at speed high above the Atlantic.

The standard print is artist signed. A small number of copies also carry the signature of Sir George Edwards OM CBE FRS, the Vickers designer whose career included leadership of the Valiant, Viscount and VC10 programmes.

Because the Sir George Edwards signature applies only to selected copies, availability should be checked before ordering.
